Gary Richard Cunningham, 70, passed away the same way he lived-serving others. He met the Lord, whom he loved so dearly, on Saturday, February 21, 2015. Gary was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law, and friend. His gentle spirit, gracious demeanor, and genuine concern for others were evidenced in his everyday life. He was born August 1, 1944 in New Trenton, Indiana to the late James & Lillian (Hall) Cunningham.
Gary was a retired ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene and pastored five churches in Indiana. He moved to Newnan, GA in 2006 and began working at McKoon Funeral Home as a chaplain and was previously employed at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Gary was a proud member of the National Rifle Association and was a Navy Veteran. Gary was passionate about teaching Biblical End Time Prophesy, and he and his wife led a group in their home for many years.
Survivors include: Donna Rottinghaus Cunningham, his loving wife of 47 years; daughters, Kelly Dennis & husband Steve of Newnan, GA, Micki DeHaan & husband Dave of Elgin, IL, Bethany Campbell & husband Jim of Warrenton, VA; 13 grandchildren, Lauren & Easton Dennis, Alivia, Clay, Will, Anna & Benjamin DeHaan, Nehemiah, Elijah, Grace, Gideon, Hannah, & Simeon Campbell.
A Service to Celebrate Gary’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 28, 2015 at First Church of the Nazarene in New Castle. A receiving line will follow after the service at the church. Arrangements are entrusted at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene, 1727 Grand Ave. New Castle, IN 47362.
