Stephen A. Smith, age 64, of Spiceland, passed away, Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Henry County Hospital. He was the son of the late Paul F. and Margie (Magee) Smith of Spiceland. He was born November 21, 1949 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
He graduated from Spiceland High School in 1968. He attended the United States Army Engineer School at Ft. Belvoir, VA and King Way Technical Machine Tool Rebuilding School in Minneapolis, MN. Stephen served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was an avid fly fisherman and greatly enjoyed his work as a machine builder at Hoosier Feeders in Knightstown. He had also worked at Service Engineering of Greenfield, Moorfeed Corporation of Indianapolis, Quality Feeders of Wilkinson and Hurco Companies of Indianapolis. He was looking forward to retirement so he could pursue his hobby of woodworking and enjoying his grandchildren.
Survivors include his long time companion, Trenna Bertram of Spiceland; daughters, April (Charlie) Hunt of Spiceland and Jenn (Jeff) Warren of Louisville, KY; grandchildren, Acacia, Ainsley and Porter Hunt, Lucas Warren, Adrianna Bowers and Kayden Wilson; brothers, Mike (Jane) Smith, Phil (Anna) Smith, Cindy (Bill) Wright all of Spiceland and Pat (Tia) Smith of New Castle; many nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2014 at the funeral home.
