Arthur Gray, 97, passed peacefully on Tuesday, January 23rd 2018 surrounded by family. Arthur was born June 7th, 1920 in Hamilton County, to the late Claude P. and Lola Mae (Carr) Gray.
Arthur graduated from Sheridan High School. On October 4th, 1941 he married Winifred Salsbery. Together they had 3 sons. Arthur was a veteran of World War II. He entered into service on December 31, 1941 and was honorably discharged on November 12, 1945.
Arthur and Winifred were married 75 years. They were farmers and faithful Christians. They traveled to Florida and spent the winter for 17 years. Arthur enjoyed working around his farm in Cadiz. He and Winifred were members of the Cadiz Christian Church and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Mr. Gray is survived by sons, Wayne and his wife Sherry Gray, Dale (Jodi) Gray all of Indianapolis, David and Theresa Gray of Cadiz. He is also survived by his 7 grandchildren, Margie, Jennifer, Patty, Kristin, Ashley, Matt, Kevin and many great and great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Arthur was preceded in death by his wife Winifred, brother Harry, and grandson Jerry Gray.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 29, 2018 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Jeff Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens with military rites conducted by the VFW/American Legion and the U.S. Army. Visitation will be from 2 – 6 p.m. Sunday, January 28 at the funeral home.
