Betty Nation, 90, of Middletown passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2023 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. She was born on June 1, 1933 to the late Carlie and Bessie (Jones) Barger.
Betty worked at the Courier-Times in the circulation department for several years. She was a member of Charity Baptist Church where she cooked many meals. Betty enjoyed traveling with her friends, going fishing and shopping. She loved to read, do word search puzzles, quilting, cooking, and canning.
She is survived by her son, Lonnie (Teresa) Nation of New Castle; special nephew whom she helped raise, Jeff (Melissa) Nation of Middletown; special great-nephews ands great niece, whom she loved like her own grandchildren, Jake (Shelby) Nation, Clint (Lauren) Nation, Seth (fiancé Taylor) Nation, Morgan Nation; special great-great nieces, Magnolia Nation and Lennon Nation, great great nephews, Brooks Nation and Trace Nation and one on the way; several nieces, nephews and cousins; sister Lizzy Stearns of Albany, Kentucky.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Billy Nation; sisters, Pauline Hulse, Opal Edwards, Catherine Wray, Annie Hulse, Ruth Harris, Pansy Logan; brothers, Otis and Jim Barger.
Services will be held Sunday, August 6, 2023 at 3:00 pm at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Rev. John Mark Tyner officiating. Burial will take place at Green Hills Memory Gardens after the service. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 pm until time of service at the funeral home.
