David H. Heath, 78, of New Castle, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Henry County Hospital. He was born October 26, 1935 in Clay County, IN, a son of the late Everett L. and Sylvia Susan (Wattlet) Heath.
A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, David retired from Chrysler Corporation in 1999 following 45 years of service. He was an active member of the Chicago Corner Christian Church in New Castle, and formerly of First Baptist Church in Cumberland. He was a member of the U.A.W. Local #371, the A.M.A., and enjoyed flying radio controlled airplanes. He had also volunteered for Hospice.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Pat D. Wine Heath of New Castle; two daughters, Vickie Freeman of Indianapolis, and Tammera (Brad) Sweezy of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Daniel Freeman, Christopher and Stephanie Sweezy; a sister, Carolyn (Jesse) Ellis of Terre Haute; two brothers, Phillip Heath of Rio Rancho, NM, and William (Susie) Heath of Farmersburg; several nieces and nephews; four great grandchildren; a step-son, Brian (Donna) Wine of Sulphur Springs.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice J. Heath in 2007; a sister, Linda; two brothers, Robert and Marion “Peach” Heath; a grandson David Freeman; a son-in-law, Donald Freeman.
Services will be at 12:00 p.m. (noon) Monday, July 7, 2014 at Chicago Corner Christian Church with Pastor Roger Hendricks officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church on Monday. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. Monday, at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis. Memorial contributions may be given to the Coalmont High School Alumni Scholarship Fund, 8423 E. Co. Rd. 975 N, Shelburn, IN 47879.
