David Ray Troxell, age 67, of New Castle, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at IU Methodist Hospital. He was born August 2, 1944 in New Castle to the late Grover C. and Lillian Rose (Day) Troxell.
David loved fishing, especially guys fishing trips to Burnside Island with son, brothers, cousins, and nephews. He enjoyed dancing, country music and Monday evening dinners at Bill’s Diner every Monday night with his classmates. David was an avid Cincinnati Reds and college basketball fan. He loved spending time with his granddaughters. David started his career in the grocery business in high school at Becker Brothers eventually becoming a store manager. He spent a few years at Chrysler Corporation as a foreman before returning to Becker Brothers, and finally retired from Marsh Supermarket in Rushville as produce manager.
Survivors include his son, John David Troxell (companion, Tanya White) of Charlotte, NC; daughter, Beth Ann (husband, Robert) Withers of Noblesville; siblings, Debbie (husband, Chris) Wiley of New Castle and Eddie (wife, Susie) Troxell of New Castle; sister-in-law, Kaye Troxell of Middletown; granddaughters, Casey and Lacey Oakley and their mother, Stephanie Staffen of Waxhaw, NC, Brittany Withers and Rochelle Withers of Noblesville; former wife and friend, Janis Dyer Troxell of Indianapolis; aunt, Francis Kelly of Anderson; nieces and nephews, Alan Troxell of Sulphur Springs, Brian Troxell of Daleville, Emily McGahee of Clarksville, GA, Carrie Mathews of New Castle, Kyle Keller of New Castle; special cousins, Larry Day of Middletown, Janet Sue Hargis of Bronston, KY, Kenny Troxell of Bronston, KY; several more special cousins in Burnside KY area; several special friends from the New Castle Class of 1963.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Patty Troxell; a brother, Charlie Troxell; his cousin and best friend, Bud Hargis.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Gary Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery.
