Rev. David P Warren, 68, left this world on Sunday, June 18, 2023 in New Castle. He was born on January 16, 1955, in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, to the late Louis and Sally (Olson) Warren.
David was a graduate of Mid-America Nazarene University in Olathe, Kansas and the Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri, where he earned his Masters Degree in Divinity. He took his first pastorate in West Helena, Arkansas. For 42 years, he pastored churches in Freeport, Texas; Evansville, Mitchell, Spencer, Petersburg, and Richmond, Indiana. David served as secretary of the Southwest Indiana District Church of the Nazarene for 12 years. He loved to mentor younger pastors and influenced many over the years. David was an avid ping pong player, reader and book collector.
David leaves cherished memories with the love of his life, his wife of 46 years, Becky (Humble) Warren; a daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Warren of Marion, Indiana; a son, Phillip (Sarah Corin) Warren of Cedar Lake, Indiana; granddaughter, Rowan Warren; sisters, Barbara (Bobby) Campbell of Needville, Texas and Lynda McGraw of Foley, Alabama; niece, Kaitlin (Jonathan) Birdwell and nephew, J.P. (Kellee) McGraw.
Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, June, 24, 2023 at Richmond First Church of the Nazarene with Dr Tim Crump and Dr Brian Wangler officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm-8:00 pm Friday, June 23, and one hour prior to service at the church on Saturday. The David Warren Endowment for African Clergy Development is being created through the Church of the Nazarene to assist in the education and training of pastors in the Africa Region.
