Dawn E. Bennett, 67, of Monticello, KY, and formerly of New Castle, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday morning, May 9, 2023 at St. Vincent Hospital Carmel. She was born December 31, 1955 in Indianapolis, a daughter of the late Harold and Loraine (Moss) Williams.
She operated Dawnie’s DayCare out of her home for 22 years. An awesome homemaker, gardener and cook, she poured her life into the lives of her children and young ladies. Dawn was creative in using her homemaking skills to assist people with special dietary needs. She wrote and directed several Christmas and Easter plays at church. Dawn had attended Spiceland Church of the Nazarene, First Church of the Nazarene, and Greensboro Church of the Nazarene, where she taught Sunday School. She loved her dog, Cassie.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 49 years, Larry Bennett, whom she married October 20, 1973; her children, Lorissa (Duane) Pooley of Boise, ID and Matt (Andrea) Bennett of Virginia, IL; grandchildren, Alaina, Trevor, Jayden, Emma, Christina, Cole, Tyler and Blue; four great grandchildren; four siblings, Rick (Nancy) Williams of Indianapolis, Bruce (Linda) Williams of Indianapolis, Sherry (Jimmy) Bender of Shelbyville, TN, and Brooke (Terry) Maggard of Westfield; several nieces and nephews; her father in law, Rev. Gene Bennett of New Castle; brother in law, Danny (Vickie) Bennett of New Castle, sister in law, Beverly (Matt) Ferguson of New Castle.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Doug, Greg and Lance Williams; and mother-in-law, Martha Bennett.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, May 12, 2023 at Southside Church of the Nazarene in New Castle. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Southside Church of the Nazarene with Pastor James Bender officiating.
