Debbie Ann Newman

Debbie Ann Newman, age 72, of Greencastle, and formerly of Mooreland, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2016 at St. Vincent Seton Hospital following a brief illness. She was born April 18, 1944 in Henry County, Indiana to the late Cebert and Annabel (Owens) Koontz.

Debbie retired from Walmart in Ft. Worth Texas in 2011 following 20 years of service. She enjoyed quilting, reading, ceramics, rug hooking and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, David C. Newman, whom she married May 5, 1961; son, David L. (Tammy) Newman of Mooreland; daughter, Julie A. (Derek) Attaway of Greencastle; five grandchildren, Ryan (Jackie) Newman, Kristy Kase, Ashley Attaway (fiancé, Eric Galinger), Jessica Attaway (fiancé, Trevar Ladd) and Nick Attaway; two great grandchildren, Adalyn Attaway and Aubree Newman; a sister, Diana Lewis of Springport; two brothers, Tom (Cindy) Koontz and Dana (Jamie) Koontz, both of Mooreland; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Connie Newman.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, New Castle with Pastor Mark Herbkersman officiating. Burial will follow in Brick Cemetery near Hagerstown.
