Deborah Sue Peterson, 69, of Knightstown passed away Friday, February 8, 2019 at Community North Hospital following a brief illness. She was born August 23, 1949 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the late Donald and Roberta (Ellis) Brower.
Debbie was a 1967 graduate of Elm Hurst High School and earned her Bachelors and Masters Degree from Ball State University. She was instrumental in starting USA Group, starting with five employees and when she retired in 2000, there were over 5,000 employees. Debbie was a very accomplished contractual soloist. She would perform at Second Presbyterian Church and with the Indianapolis Symphony. After retiring, Debbie became a full time mother to her daughter, Lydia. She also was a teacher assistant at the alternative school for last chance students. She and her husband owned and operated Jay Garment Antique Mall in Portland and National Trail Antiques in Dunreith as a secondary wholesale dealer outlet, which is still in business today.
Deborah enjoyed family vacations to Wisconsin Dells and always cooking for her daughter’s friends. Debbie was excited to see her granddaughter, Kamryn Sue, grow and learn and was always getting her educational toys.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Steven; daughter, Lydia; granddaughter, Kamryn Sue all of Knightstown; a brother Randy (Pat) Brower of Ft. Wayne; and a special lifelong friend, Steve Thompson of Ohio.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery. there will be a carrion meal following the committal services at the funeral home. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12 at the funeral home.
