Dennis W. White, 72, of New Castle passed away Monday February 4, 2019 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born November 20, 1946 in Henry County a son of the late Wilfred Morgan and Alice May (Kirkman) White.
Most importantly, Dennis was an Elder for many years in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness serving Knightstown congregation for many years along with Rushville and New Castle congregations. He enjoyed, reading the Bible and volunteering many hours in the preaching and teaching work. He also volunteered his time at conventions and assemblies. One of his main duties was having the privilege of baptizing many ones and being known as the “Big Dipper”. He retired from Chrysler Corporation in New Castle in 1998 following thirty and half years of service. Dennis was a John Deere fanatic! He restored full size tractors and collected tractors of all scales. He even had his John Deere wardrobe along with his very recognizable truck with John Deere decals. Dennis loved helping others but would always try to figure things out on his own and crafting solutions to function without the help of others. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren very much and will be deeply missed.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 46 years, Alice “Becky” White of New Castle; Dennis has two daughters, Michelle R. Cole-Owens (deceased) and Alice Elizabeth White of New Castle; grandchildren, Jessica L. (Doug) Vogel , Alicia B. (companion: Bryson) Cole and Samuel C. Cole all of Rush Co., Kayla M. Lilly and Lillian B. Lilly both of New Castle; siblings, Tom ( Jane) White of Straughn, Linda White-Davis of Portland, OR, Grayce White of Greenwood, Martha (Dan) Webb of Indianapolis, Mildred (Randy) McCullough of LaPorte, Fred (Heather) White of Gosport and several nieces and nepherws.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Michelle R. Cole-Owens.
Services will be 2:00pm Friday February 8, 2019 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Dick Webster officiating with cremation to follow. Visitation will be from 4-8pm Thursday at the funeral home. You may express condolences or share a memory of Dennis at
