Derek A. Roland, age 39, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2017. He was born February 18, 1978 in Indianapolis, a son of Mark Alan Roland and Vera Elizabeth (Davisson) Woods.
Derek was a 1996 graduate of Knightstown High School. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from IUPUI. He loved sports and was an avid fan of the Butler Bulldogs, IU, the Cincinnati Reds and the Chicago Bears. Derek loved spending time with his children and enjoyed coaching his son in Little League Baseball. He loved his brother, Travis, who he called “Little Piggy”.
He is survived by his father, Mark (Mary) Roland of Greenfield; children, Kendal Elizabeth and Will Hudson; brothers, Joshua A. Roland (fiancé, Taylor Hof) of Carmel and Travis A. Roland of Greenfield; grandparents, Manda Roland of Knightstown and Daisy Robinson of Greenfield; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother; grandfather, Wilford Roland; and cousins, Shane Loveall and Rob Mills.
Services will be at 10:00 AM Friday, June 2, 2017 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Pastor Ron Mills officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Derek Roland Memorial Fund, c/o Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, 7355 S State Road 109, Knightstown, IN 46148.
