Don A. Weaver, 82, of Mooreland, IN passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, January 10 th surrounded by his family.
Don was born September 11 th, 1941 in Whitman, WV to Dallas A. Weaver and Evelyn M. (Nichols) Weaver. He graduated from Olive Hill High School, Olive Hill, KY and retired from Ingersoll Steel in 1996 after 30 years as a Journeyman Machinist. He also farmed for over 20 years with father in-law, Max Hiatt.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara (Hiatt) Weaver; children, Lora Diane (Danny) Criswell, Kenny (Angela) Weaver, Larry (Emily) Weaver; grandchildren, Teddy Criswell, Hayden, Olivia, Luke, Isaac, and Joel Weaver; step grandsons, Taylor, John and Max Groce; step daughter-in-law, Tracy Groce; sister, Verla Ellis; brothers, Kenny R. (Vickey) Weaver and Bob (Nancy) Weaver, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Upon retirement Don did not slow down, he continued as a machinist for several years in his machine shop at his home. He was a perfectionist and took pride in his work.
Don loved the Lord, reading and studying the Bible. He was known for his dry sense of humor and loved teasing the grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He enjoyed growing a garden, always giving away more than he kept for himself. He loved visits from his children and grandchildren, never missing an opportunity to show them his large garden every summer and helping harvest his produce. He loved all animals, especially dogs, cats, and horses. He would give you the shirt off his back and expect nothing in return and always offering to lend a hand whenever needed. He had a big heart and his love and compassion for his family and friends always shined through.
Don will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he is proceeded in death by his brothers, Willy and Tommy Weaver; stepson, Chris Groce and special niece and nephew, Sandy and Tommy Weaver.
Visitation will be 12:00 – 2PM Wednesday, January 17, 2024, with services immediately following at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle, IN. Pastor Mort Radford will be officiating, burial will follow at Mooreland Cemetery. You may express condolences or share memories of Don at
