Donald E. "Don" Sylvester

Donald E. “Don” Sylvester, 84, a resident of Greenwood and formerly of Knightstown passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2023 in Johnson County, Indiana. He was born February 26, 1939 in Knightstown to the late Elic and Ruth Sylvester.

Don was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired from Allison Transmission in Indianapolis in 1993 after many years of service. An avid golfer, Don also enjoyed playing softball.

Survivors include a son: Donald “Sean” (Gina) Sylvester of Martinsville; four grandchildren: Hunter, Eva, Avery and Cameron; a sister: Betty Grandison of Knightstown; nephew: Brian (Shelly) Grandison of Richmond; niece: Jill Sharp of Tennessee; his companion: Joyce McNabb of Greenwood.

Services will be held at 6:30 P.M. Friday, October 20, 2023 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel with Pastor Steve Arnett officiating. Military rites will be conducted by contingents of the U.S. Army and the Knightstown American Legion. Visitation will be from 5:30 P.M. until time of the services Friday at the funeral home.
