Donna M. Barr, 49, of New Castle, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2011 at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie following an extended illness. She was born November 8, 1961 in West Point, NY, a daughter of the late Thomas and Shirley (Monaco) Smith.
A 1980 graduate of Community High School in Boston, MA, she was a member the Indiana Pawnbrokers Association, and was co-owner of Castle Pawn Shop in New Castle. She was a member of the New Castle Noon Optimist Club, and a bowling league. Donna enjoyed spending time with her family, attending her children’s school and sports activities, decorating for her favorite holidays, Halloween and Christmas, boating, and being on the beach.
She is survived by her husband, Ric Barr of New Castle; four children, Jackie Rooney of Tampa, FL, Megan Rooney of Tampa, FL, Kim Rooney of New Castle, and Jennifer Barr of New Castle; a sister, Lisa (husband, Al) Calarusso of Celebration Station, FL; a brother, Brian (wife, Lynn) Smith of Boston, MA; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Shirley Smith.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Barr Family Scholarship Fund at the Henry County Community Foundation, 700 S. Memorial Dr., New Castle, IN 47362.
