Dorothy E. Cline, age 87, of New Castle, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2009 at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. She was born September 10, 1921 in Montpelier, Indiana to the late George Carlton and Amy (Swander) Ely.
She graduated from Chrysler High School in 1940 and retired from Chrysler Corporation in 1976 after 34 years of service.
Survivors include several good friends: Priscilla and Richard Byrd, Dorothy Barkdull, Judy and Tom Hetrick, Nancy and Steve Hernley, Martha Jane and Walter Stoots, Fran Bullock, Linda Alcorn, Grace Jackson Riley, and Kelly Vaught; a brother-in-law: Clifford Smith; a great niece: Theresa Pierce; a great nephew: Curtis Jackson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter: Sharon K. Cline; a sister: Ruth Jackson Smith; a nephew: Gene Jackson; companion: Gene Vaught.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Fran Bullock officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be given the American Kidney Foundation or Henry County Animal Shelter with envelopes available at the funeral home.
