Dorothy L. Cole, 85, of New Castle passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family, Tuesday, March 24, 2020. She was born February 15, 1935 in Bristol, Tennessee, a daughter of the late Fred Carr and Ida Gentry.
She retired from Eastwood School as a Cafeteria Manager following 20 years of service. Dorothy was a charter member of Memorial Baptist Church and a loyal member of the Henry County Democratic Club. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who always put family first. She was an excellent cook and known for cooking many wonderful things including her beans & cornbread and spaghetti salad. Dorothy enjoyed the outdoors, working in her flower gardens, vacationing, traveling and spending time with her fur baby, Rocky.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Dale Cole; children, Chris Cole, Caroline (Keith) South, Dale Cole, Jr. (Shana Lehman) and Doug (Brandy) Cole, all of New Castle; grandchildren, Dustin (Whitney) Allee, Christopher Cole (Kalei King), Krystal Cole, Braxton Cole, Kiersten Cole, Zach Cole (Allison Pinon), Emma Cole and Jacob Cole; 9 great grandchildren; sister, Francis White of New Castle; and sisters-in-law, Glenda Mason of Mt. Summit and Joyce (Bill) Rayburn of Cleveland, TN; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Trey Cole; 4 brothers; 1 sister; father & mother-in-law Lewis & Anna Cole; and brother & sister-in-law, Janet (Carl) Murphy.
Friends and family may visit from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, March 26, 2020 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle, but please be prepared to wait as we are only limited to 10 guests in attendance at a time. In accordance to the stipulations dealing with COVID-19, services will be held privately at Memorial Baptist Church with Pastor Tobby Smith officiating.
