Duane Smiley

Duane Smiley, 76, of Springport passed away Saturday, May 20, 2023. He was born January 9, 1947 in Portland, Indiana to the late Harry Woodrow “Woody” and Mary Catherine (Gilbert) Smiley.

He served in the Army National Guard. Duane married Robin Addison in Muncie on November 15, 1983. He retired, after 35 years, from Indiana and Michigan Electric (AEP), Muncie. Many years ago, Duane enjoyed auto racing and ran a race car tire business. His interests included genealogy, computers and finding bargains at rummage sales. Duane was a do-it-yourself kind of guy, most home repairs and projects he did himself. He also enjoyed helping others and will be greatly missed by all.

Survivors include his wife, Robin; children, Paula Say, Rob Smiley and Doug Smiley; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Chrisman; brothers, Joe Keen and Gary Keen; along with nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be held on Thursday May 25, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with David Brock officiating. Burial will take place at Circle Grove Cemetery.
