George Edward Goodin

George Edward Goodin, 81, of New Castle passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born on August 17, 1942 to the late Lucion Edward and Vinnie Mildred (Bristow) Goodin.

He was in the 1960 graduating class of New Castle Chrysler High School. George worked for Dana Corporation for 42 years before retiring in 2003 and was a member of Grand Ave Baptist Church for many years. George had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.

Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Joan Goodin; children, Scott Goodin (Tammy McGinnis) and Sheila Fearin (Matt Semler); grandchildren, Quentin (Katherine) Goodin, Collin (Ashley) Goodin, Cameron (Jordan) Goodin, Whitney Fearin, Justin (Katy) Fearin, Alyssa Semler and Landon Semler; great grandchildren, Gage Butler, Melanie Fearin, Hallie Fearin, Jex Fearin, Madilyn Goodin, Mason Goodin, Ava Norris, Colson Goodin, Grant Goodin and Ellis Goodin; siblings, Joan (Larry) Gard, Janet (Howard) Lundy, David (Cindy) Goodin and Marcia Goodin; mother-in-law, Elizabeth “Beth” Dick; brother in law, Lewis Dick; former daughters-in-law; Tammy Champion and Tammy Goodin; several nieces and nephews; and a very special furry companion, Gunner.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by son-in-law, Jon Fearin; father-in-law, Roy Dick; and a sister in law, Linda Dick.

Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, October 2, 2023 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Charles Dugger and Tony Piper officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until time of service on Monday at the funeral home.
