Harold Dobbs

Harold P. Dobbs, age 81, of New Castle, passed away Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at Henry County Hospital. He was born June 13, 1929 in Keno, Kentucky to the late Reverend Pat W. and Ollie (Wilson) Dobbs.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving with the 501st division of service. He retired from Chrysler Corporation in 1989 following 38 years of service. He was a member of Mt. Union Baptist Church in Keno, Kentucky. A devoted husband and father, Harold enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed gardening and loved being outdoors.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Jean Dobbs, whom he married October 29, 1952; three daughters, Patricia Jean Flynn in Somerset, KY, Bobbie Lynn (husband, Don) Garner of New Castle and Jackie Jo (husband, Scott) Burris of New Castle; grandchildren, Christie Flynn (husband, John) Taylor of London, KY, Dustie Flynn (husband, Walter) Maguire, Jr. of Somerset, KY, Jada Garner (husband, Joe) Merideth of Chicago, Matthew Lee Garner of New Castle, Patrick Burris and Christian Burris both of New Castle; great grandchildren, Natasha and Travis Taylor and Avery Isa Meridith; sisters, Lucille Amick of Anderson, Lillian Tetsloff of Bowling Green, KY, Ruth (husband, J.B.) Huter of Goshen, OH and Bonnie (husband, David) Slagle of Bronston, KY; two brothers, Edwin Dobbs of Somerset, KY and Howard (wife, Shirley) Dobbs of Somerset, KY; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant son, Harvey Allen Dobbs; an infant daughter, Pamela Loraine Dobbs; son-in-law, Douglas Wayne Flynn; four brothers, Hollis, Hulen, Richard and Willis Dobbs.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 17, 2010 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Larrell Boling officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, December 16, 2010 at the funeral home.
