Harold (Mac) Butch McDaniel was born at home November 19th, 1938 to Harold and Letha McDaniel. He was raised in Liberty, Indiana, surrounded by many aunts and uncles, he said growing up was the best childhood.
Harold’s first job, at the age of 12, was cutting meat for the local grocery store, then in 1955, he entered the US Airforce at age 17. Harold continued his military career as a recruiter for the Indiana National Guard in New Castle, IN. In 1989, Harold become the owner/operator of King’s Smorgasbord in Cowan, Indiana then in December of 1990, he was called to serve in Operation Desert Storm and retired in 1998. Harold married Renee Schmitt in the living room of Rev. Hale in Jellico, TN. Harold and Renee lived in New Castle, IN and currently reside in Greensfork, IN.
In addition to his parents, Harold is preceded in death by his sister, Hazel Williams and grandson, Adam McDaniel.
Survivors include his wife, Renee McDaniel; children, Michael (Tish) McDaniel, Tara (George) DeGroat, Megan L. McDaniel, Caleb (Mandy) McDaniel, Chad (Samantha) Schmitt-McDaniel, sister, Julie Ramey, a niece, nephews and grandchildren. Also, families not by blood but love, John and Amanda King, Steve and Naomi King, Amos Bertha King, Enos Bertha King, David and Esther King and granddaughter Amanda King, Jeff and Patty Melton, Larry Melton, and Kodi and Kaci Yountz.

A memorial visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00pm Monday, November 6, 2023 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Services in New Castle with military honors conducted at 6:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family has graciously requested donations be made to Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service to help with Mac’s services. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
