Imogene "Jeanne" (Wright) Collier

Imogene “Jeanne” (Wright) Collier, 96, a resident of New Castle passed away Friday, January 5, 2024 at Glen Oaks Health Campus. She was born April 7, 1927 in Shirley to the late Gerald A. and Mabel (Harris) Wright.

A homemaker, Jeanne shared pastoral ministry with her husband in many Friends churches. A 1945 graduate of Wilkinson High School, she was a Greenfield resident for over 20 years. Jeanne was a member of Faith Methodist Church in Greenfield and started a Bible study group in Glen Oaks that is still active to this day. She always had a heart for others and would often offer prayer for those she met. She loved reading, working word puzzles, camping and traveling.

Those left to cherish her memory include two sons: Rev. Allen (Terri) Collier of Greensburg and Rev. Phillip (Melinda) Collier of Tipton; two daughters: Becky (Rev. Mike) Hopper of Greenfield and Tammy (Rev. Gary) Litten of Greensburg; six grandchildren: Aaron (Christina) Hopper, Isaac (Sarah) Hopper, Andrea Collier, Sarah (Seth) Ewoldt, Spencer Litten and Caleb Collier; eight great-grandchildren; a sister: Beverly Rev. Gary) Messick; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Gerald A. Collier in 2008; twin brother: Rev. Eugene Wright; siblings: Vivian Jordan, Mary McDaniel, Betty Delph, Janet Ramsey, Rev. Robert Wright and Byron “Barney” Wright; grandchildren: Kevin Hopper, Taylor Litten and Amanda Langdon and a great-granddaughter: Kendall Langdon.

A celebration of life will take place at 2:00 P.M. Friday, January 12, 2024 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel. Her sons and sons-in-law, Rev. Allen Collier, will be officiating, assisted by Rev. Phillip Collier, Rev. Mike Hopper and Rev. Gary Litten. Following a brief service, burial will take place in McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson. Visitation will be from 12 noon until time of the service on Friday. Memorial contributions may be given to Faith Methodist Church, 328 N. Swope St., Greenfield, IN, 46140.
