James “Jim” H. Murray, age 89, of Cadiz, passed away Monday, October 24, 2016 at his residence. He was born October 17, 1927 in Spiceland, Indiana to the late Charles and Ruth (Anders) Murray.
Jim graduated from Spiceland High School in 1947 and served in Indiana National Guard. He worked at Chrysler Corporation in New Castle for a short time and retired as Business Administrator at Pendleton Reformatory in 1990. He enjoyed going fishing in Canada and with his fishing buddies from Anderson, wood working, and visiting with relatives in Virginia. Jim and Phyllis loved to travel, including nine cruises and spending winters at their home in Florida.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Phyllis (Evans) Murray of Cadiz; a son, Steve (Terri) Murray of Middletown; granddaughters, Lynn (David) Brown of Columbus, OH and Gina (Isaac) Fields of New Castle; three great grandchildren, Miles Brown, Lucy Brown and Lavender Fields; brother, Ron (Nancy) Murray of Shirley; several nieces, nephews, and family members of Galax, VA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Herbert and Donnie Murray.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 28, 2016 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service with Pastors Jeff Johnson and Kirby Popplewell officiating. Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery in Middletown. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, October 27, 2016 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Cadiz Christian Church.
