Jerry Wayne Miller, 75, of Knightstown passed away suddenly on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Rush Memorial Hospital. He was born September 29, 1944 in Jeffersonville to the late Ed and Helen (Wells) Miller of Spiceland.
Jerry was a 1966 graduate of Ball State University where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity and Blue Key Honorary Society. After college, Jerry enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and graduated from Officer Candidate School in 1966 as a Second Lieutenant. He served in Vietnam from May of 1968 until June of 1969. After an honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, Jerry attended Valparaiso University where he received his law degree in 1973.
Moving back to his home town area, Jerry practiced law in Rush County where he served as County Court Judge from 1976 to 1977 and in Henry County where he served as Deputy Prosecuting Attorney, retiring in 2014. Jerry enjoyed fishing, playing golf, walking his dog and a good joke.
Left to cherish his memory are his former wife, Mary, and their son, Travis Miller of Rush County; sisters, Judy (Tom) Haase of Knightstown and Patty (George) Hill of Marion; several nieces and nephews and many good friends.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 13, 2020 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel. Military honors will be provided by contingents of the U.S. Marine Corps and Knightstown American Legion. Visitation will be from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 12 at the funeral home.
