Jesse James Catron

August 21, 1926 — March 4, 2013

Jesse James Catron, 86, of New Castle, passed away Monday, March 4, 2013 at his residence following a brief illness. He was born August 21, 1926 in Albany, KY the son of James Jasper and Flora Marie (Jones) Catron.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II, stationed in Japan. He retired from New Castle Community School Corporation maintenance department. Jesse had previously worked for the City of New Castle. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in New Castle. Jesse enjoyed gardening, hunting and the outdoors in general, and very much enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by five children including a stepson: Sam (wife, Sue Kay) Taylor, Gene (wife: Linda) Catron, Connie (husband, John) Blair, Jim Catron and Sheila (husband, Terry) Hopkins all of New Castle; eleven grandchildren: Stephanie (husband: Greg) Morgan of Mooreland, Debbie (husband: Mark) Walker of New Castle, Beth Taylor of New Castle, Tom (wife: Angie) Catron of Burleson, TX, Eric (wife: Katie) Catron of Springtown, TX, Ciara Catron of Portland, IN, Steve (Bonnie) Hutson Jr. of New Castle, Michelle Harris of New Castle, Kari Mitchell of Columbus, GA, Patrick Blair stationed at New River Marine Base, NC, and Autumn (husband: Jason) Price of New Castle; 15 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; siblings: Mae (husband, Harlan) Fletcher-Sannes of Rockwell, NC, Gladys James of Alamogordo, NM, Marie (husband: Don) Antrobus of Ft. Wayne, Andrew Jackson “Jack” (wife, Debbie) Catron of New Castle, Agnes Golliher of Ft. Wayne, Omer (wife, Janet) Catron of Oklahoma City, OK; one sister-in-law: Dorothy Catron of New Castle; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Pollie Ann Catron in 2007 and a brother: Kenneth Catron.

Services will be at 11:00 AM Friday, March 8, 2013 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Brother Bobby Slagle officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Rifle Association with envelopes available at the funeral home.
