JoAnne Neal, 87, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2023 at Addison Place of New Castle. She was born on July 28, 1936 in Loudon County, TN to the late Charles H. and Mattie Irene (Quillen) Simpson.
JoAnne was an accomplished seamstress and worked out of her home for many years. In her earlier years, she worked at the Princess Theater and the telephone company in New Castle. She dearly loved caring for her children and grandchildren and also babysat for others. JoAnne enjoyed gardening and canning. She was always willing to go out of her way to help those in need. JoAnne was a member of Foursquare Gospel church for about 70 years where she worked in the nursery, was a communion lady and worked church bazaars. Above all, she loved the Lord and had a heart for sharing Jesus with others.
Left to cherish her memories include her daughters, Melinda (Lonnie) Nixon of Springport, Cindy (John) English of Brownsburg and Kim (Chris) Riley of Mooreland; son, Kelley (Shannon) Neal of Tampa, Florida; grandchildren, Scott Riley and Josh (Sara) Riley, both of New Castle, Emily (Brandon) Wilson of Mooresville, Kirtland Neal of Savannah, GA, Kevin Neal of Wesley Chapel, FL, Collin Neal of Gibsonton, FL, Connor Neal of Wesley Chapel, FL; great grandchildren, Lydia and Carter Wilson, Amelia and Hayleigh Riley; brother, Charles Homer Simpson of Decatur, TN; several nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of forty years, Orice Neal in 1998 and an infant grandson, Michael Neal.
Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, December 4, 2023 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Charles McDonald officiating. Burial will follow at Mooreland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-5:00 pm Sunday, December 3, 2023 and one hour prior to the service on Monday.
