John H. Himes

John H. Himes, age 71, of New Castle, passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at Stonebrook Rehabilitation Center in New Castle. He was born April 11, 1943 in Berwick, Ohio to the late Howard and Wanda (Wherle) Himes.

He retired from Chrysler Corporation in 2005 following over 40 years of service. John served in the United States Navy and was a member of Moose and Eagles Lodges. He loved playing cards, western movies, cooking, tinkering in garage and reading. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Anne (Lansford) Himes of New Castle; two daughters, Dawn (Jim) Kanatzer of New Castle and Michelle Himes of New Castle; a granddaughter whom he helped raise, Kelly Himes; grandchildren, Tony, Crystal, Shaun, Deborah, and Joanne “JoJo”; siblings, Robert (Rosemary) Himes of Corpus Christi, TX, Harold (Vivan) Himes of Cumming, GA, Mike (Amy) Himes of Bridgport, NY, Don (Pat) Himes of Waco, TX, Karen Cooper, Peggy Mathias, Cindy Pruett all of Fostoria, OH, Linda Himes of Corpus Christi, TX and Earlene (Chad) Shock of Columbus, IN; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Susan A. Himes; two sons, Chris and John Robert Himes.

Services will be at 12:00 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2014 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Paul Kirk officiating. Burial will at 3:00 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2014 Grandview Memorial Gardens Madison, Indiana. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
