John Ronald Wable, 84, of Fortville passed away unexpectedly Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Springhurst Health Campus in Greenfield. He was born on July 23, 1938 in Anderson, IN, a son of the late Jake Wable and Josephine (Reger) Dauenhauer.
John was a 1956 graduate of Markleville High School and was a veteran of the US Air Force. On August 23, 1958, he married the love of his life, Mary Sorg; they have been married for 64 years. John provided for his wife and family by beginning an entrepreneurship in the vending industry; he retired from vending following 45 years of service and then started a new business in concession trailers. He was a member of the Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church in Greenfield. John loved spending time with his family and enjoyed woodworking; he would often bless his family and friends with his woodworking creations.
John is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary (Sorg) Wable; son, Rod Wable; grandson, Randy; great grandson, Micah; grandson, Josh; daughter, Cheryl (Russ) Hammer; granddaughter, Cassie (Ryan) Halcomb; great granddaughter, Rylie Halcomb; granddaughter, Kiersten (Curtis) Robbins; half-sister, Lynn.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by step-father, William Dauenhauer; step-mother, Betty Wable; half-brother, Richard Wable and a niece.
Services will begin at 2:00pm Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Rev. Steve Brackney officiating. Burial will follow at Mechanicsburg Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00pm until the time of service on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be given to the Mt.
