Joyce Lee Fairchild

Joyce Lee Fairchild, 81, of Lewisville, died on May 7, 2023 at Heritage House in New Castle. She was born August 18, 1941 in Woodbury, NJ to the late Leon and Edna (Carey) Bruner.

A homemaker and mother of four, she was an avid collector of cookie jars and dolls, who enjoyed reading, gardening, and jigsaw puzzles.

In 1980 she married Marvin Fairchild in New Castle, and they built their home together in Lewisville in 1993.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 42 years, Marvin Fairchild of Lewisville; four children, Jerry Johnson (partner, Teresa Stephens) of New Castle, Charles “Chuck” Johnson Jr. (partner, Jenny Grubbs) of New Castle, Zabrina (Daniel) Riggs of New Castle, and Elaina (John) Foster of Summitville; a step daughter, Dawn Renee Cole of FL; sisters, Edna Davis of North Carolina and Julia Bruner; seven grandchildren, Stephanie Johnson, Ashley Bowne, Sydni (George) Andriopoulos, Shelbi (Timothy) Tedeschi, Joseph Favre, Gage Buchmeier, and Julie Buchmeier; and several great grandchildren.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and two siblings, Raymond and Roland Beakley, and a stepson, Del Ray Fairchild.

Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m., Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle followed by a funeral service at 3:00 p.m., officiated by Rev. Arthur Whitaker. Interment will follow in Lewisville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the New Castle/Henry County Animal Shelter, 11 Midway Dr., New Castle, IN 47362.
