Kathy Payne

Katherine “Kathy” Harris Payne, 54, a resident of New Castle and formerly of Indianapolis, passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis following an extended illness. She was born September 23, 1957 in Dayton, OH a daughter of the late Willie J. Harris and Bessie Harris-Young of New Castle. She was also a step-daughter of the late Sanders Young.

She attended New Castle High School and later earned her GED. Kathy was a member of Bethany Tabernacle Church in New Castle and a former member of the Eastern Star in Indianapolis. She enjoyed shopping and spending time with those she dearly loved.

She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter: Chala (Darnell) Fox of Indianapolis; granddaughters: Amani, Corrine and Zoe, all Indianapolis; a brother: Floyd of Indianapolis; Sisters: Mable (Paul) Porter, Joyce Harris, Jane Harris, all of New Castle, Brenda Bell (companion: Bo Lee) of Kokomo and Susan Sizemore of Indianapolis; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father and her step-father.

Services will be at 2:00 PM Monday, July 9, 2012 at Bethany Tabernacle Church, 402 S. 18th Street in New Castle. Services will be conducted by Dist. Elder John Fonzer, Sr. and Rev. David L. Coatie. Friends may call from 11:00 AM until time of service Monday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Christian Love Help Center, 418 S. 18th Street, New Castle, IN 47362.
