Kelvin Dewayne Watson, 66, of New Castle passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on June 21, 1957 in New Castle to the late Hershel and Doris (Criswell) Watson.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army for six years. After leaving the service, Kelvin worked for the City of New Castle for several years. In 2020, he retired from Chrysler Corperation after 20 years of service. Kelvin enjoyed fishing, riding his motorcycle (a Harley Davison Ultra Classic), playing Texas Hold’em, watching Fox News, family gatherings and spending time with his granddaughters. Kelvin was also an avid fan of IU Basketball, NASCAR and the Indianapolis Colts.
Left to cherish his memory include the love of his life, Sherrie Watson whom he married on January 8, 1977; children, Wendy (Ryan) Stearns and Jackie Watson; granddaughters, whom he raised, Joslyn Watson and Kegan Watson; siblings, Gladys (Homer) Poss, Alta Hardgrove, Connie (Dave) Thompson, Patricia (Rick) Pierce and Melvin (Alisea) Watson; brothers-in-law, Rick (Patricia) Pierce, Roger (Sandy) Pierce; mother-in-law, Wanda (Roy) Bolden and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two infant sons; a brother, Danny Watson; and father-in-law, Homer Pierce.
Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 21, 2024 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Paul Davis officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Sunday at the funeral home. Military honors will be conducted by contingents from the U.S. Army and New Castle American Legion/VFW.
