Kenneth Wayne Houston, Sr., 69, of Greenfield, passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at his residence. He was born November 6, 1947 in Lawrenceville, Illinois to the late Everett and Amanda (Hays) Houston.
Ken retired from the Indianapolis Star as journeyman pressman after nearly 30 years of service. He was a member of the Franklin Masonic Lodge and loved camping, fishing, wood working, grilling, cooking, baking, traveling, taking excellent care of his animals on his farm, mowing his lawn, DIY home improvement projects, but mostly, spending time with his family. Ken had a big heart and loved helping people.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Laura Houston of Greenfield; children, Bobbie Houston, Kenny Houston, Jr., Veronica Baker, Denise Houston, Mike (Nicole) Brown, and Chris Brown; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Frank (Vickie) Houston, Janet (Rex) Ringering, and Lillie (Ken) Cleeton; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Madison Baker.
Services will be at 6:00 PM Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Chaplain Katherine Murray officiating. Visitation will be from 2-6 PM prior to the service with Masonic Services starting at 5:30.
