Lana June Pettus Bennett, 66, of New Castle passed away Friday, December 29, 2017 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. She was born November 2, 1951 in New Castle to the late Luther and Dora (Pennycuff) Agee.
She was a longtime member of Grand Avenue Baptist Church. Lana enjoyed going to church, reading her Bible and hearing the gospel preached. She was an avid motorcyclist and loved the wind blowing through her hair. Lana cherished her time with her grandson and was very proud of the relationship they shared. They had an untouchable bond and considered him her blessing. She also enjoyed writing in her journal and poems. She loved spending time with her daughter and family and lived for the love she shared with them all.
She is survived by her daughter, Jackie (Samuel) Porter; a grandson, Tyler New all of New Castle; a granddaughter, Shelby (Jonnathun) Mouton of Monroe, GA; two great granddaughters, Emerson and Madelyn Mouton; a step daughter, Amber Baker of Noblesville; sisters, Jo Garrett of Sevierville, TN; Janet Barnes and Peggy Bates both of New Caste and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, James; a sister, Zora Vanarsdall; four brothers, Ernie, Eddie, David and Luther Agee.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Charles Dugger officiating. Private burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
