Larry G. Jackson, 88, of Muncie, formerly of Knightstown, passed away Thursday, October 27, 2022 at Bethel Pointe Health and Rehabilitation in Muncie. He was born July 18, 1934 in Philadelphia, IN a son of Herbert L. and Opal P. (Smith) Jackson, Sr.
Larry had worked at Pendleton Reformatory as a security guard. He was then employed at Western Electric in Indianapolis and retired from AT&T in Oklahoma after many years of loyal service. He was a member of Muncie First Church of the Nazarene and had been an active member of the Lions Club in his younger years. A very proficient woodworker/artist, he enjoyed building a variety of items. Larry was a huge Chicago Cubs fan and loved John Deere tractors. He also enjoyed bird watching, but mostly loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by three children, Jeff Jackson (Ruth Jones) of Franklin, IN, Amy (Eric) Moore of Muncie and Serena (Jeremiah) Watts of Oklahoma City, OK; two grandchildren, Wesley (Jen) Moore of Dayton, OH and Jessie (Preston) Russett of Trinidad, CO; great grandchildren, Wyatt and Sawyer Moore, Jupiter Russett, Justin and Seth Watts; sister, Naomi Haynes of Anderson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley (Zornes) Jackson; sister, Lois Hastings and two brothers, Dale and Roy Jackson.
The family would like to thank the staff of Bethel Pointe Rehab and Heart to Heart Hospice for the excellent loving care given to Larry.
Services will be at 11:30 AM Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Pastor Mark Dill officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery.
