Lawrence “Jiggs” Preston Johnson

Lawrence “Jiggs” Preston Johnson, 77, of Spiceland passed away Monday, May 22, 2023 at IU Health Ball Hospital following a brief illness. He was born January 26, 1946 in Shirley, Indiana to Ithel (Thompson) Watkins.

He was a compassionate, kind and loving guy. Jiggs was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, cutting wood, attending mud bogs and any type of racing. Jiggs was an all-around great man who would help anyone in need. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his children, Michael Johnson of New Castle, Susan (Michael) Boggs of Spiceland, Misty (Ron) Hornback of Selma, Bridget (Jill) Johnson of Middletown and Bobby Dishman; grandchildren, Mason, Garrett, Gage, Rachel, Hanna, Abbigail, Jacob, Jonathon, Joseph, Joshua, Christopher, Ashley, Kilynne, Angelina, Brianna, Robert, Jason, Heaven and Maximus; 24 great grandchildren; siblings, Bill Bowling, Frank (Gloria) Bowling, Judy Bowling and Carolyn Bowling and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Jason Dishman; a great grandson, Zachery; and his second parents, Cecil and Virginia Bowling.

There will be a memorial gathering from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 25, 2023 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will be at Green Hills Memory Gardens at a later date. You may express condolences or share a memory of Jiggs at www.hinsey-brown.com .
