Lettie E. Sweigart, 94, a resident of New Castle passed away Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Stonebrooke Rehabilitation Center in New Castle. She was born March 7, 1923 in Ritchfield, Idaho to the late Lemon and Erma (Jackson) Sanders.
A homemaker, she enjoyed camping, cooking and baking. Lettie was thought of as the “best mom ever” and was always there for her family. Dressing up for the holidays was one of her favorite things to do. She enjoyed playing Euchre with her children, but mostly loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include three sons: Billy Sweigart (companion: Diane) of Florida, Donnie (Jennifer) Sweigart of New Castle and David (Jean) Sweigart of Angola; two daughters: Gloria Reagan of Kokomo and Elizabeth Black of New Castle; grandchildren: Randy (Missy) Sweigart,David Sweigart, Jeannie (Wilber) Mattix, Tait and Lee Sweigart, Amy (Matt) Roberson, Beth (James) Longstreet, Larry (Leslie) Reagan Jr., Donald Scott, Alan and Joshua Wilson, Eric Schults and Cathy Crabtree; a brother: Chester (Jean) Sanders of Hagerstown; several great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Christian Sweigart in 1988; a son: James Sweigart, two grandsons: Roger Sweigart and Christian Wilson; son-in-law: Larry Reagan, Sr.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, July 3, 2017 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Ron Elam officiating. Burial will follow in Elliott Cemetery.
