Dr. Marcus “Marc” Nugen Allhands, 73, passed away to be with his Lord and Savior in Heaven on Sunday, September 17, 2023.
Marcus was born on October 2, 1949 to Keith Nugen Allhands and Betty Lou (Alexander) Allhands in New Castle, Indiana. Marcus married his high school sweetheart, Pamela Ann (Howe) Allhands on January 24, 1970 at the Lewisville Presbyterian Church in Lewisville, IN. Marcus and Pamela had three children; Amy Lorraine, Tamara Anne, and Abby Gail Allhands.
After graduating from Lewisville High School in 1968, Marcus studied Engineering at Purdue University, a field in which he later completed a PhD at the University of Florida. Professional accomplishments included being a member of MENSA, having his name on three patents, holding positions of presidency for AMS Engineering and Environmental, Inc. and Heartland Filter and Valve, Inc., and holding the position of Vice President of Orival, Inc., from which he retired. Through his work, Marcus traveled all over the world, including 43 of the 48 continental United States, Canada, Mexico, India, China, United Kingdom, Australia, Israel and Borneo.
Marcus was a devout Christian since he and his wife, Pamela, accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Savior early on in their marriage. He was deeply involved with the churches they were associated with, and served as Elder, treasurer, and Adult Sunday School Teacher in several of them, as well as serving on the Local Board of Administration for the Wesleyan churches he belonged to. Marcus was on the board of directors of Unitas International, an international mission’s organization, and in his lifetime, took missions trips to Ecuador, Belize, South Africa, and Mozambique.
Marcus was predeceased by his parents, Keith and Betty (Alexander) Allhands.
He is survived by his wife of 53 ½ years, Pamela (Howe) Allhands; daughters, Amy (John) Richmond, Dr. Tamara (Aaron) Porter, and Dr. Abby (Harley) Means; 15 grandchildren, Logan Porter, Michaela Quivey, Justus Porter, Addison Richmond, Madeline Porter, (John) Marcus Richmond, Gabriel Porter, Mason Richmond, Alec Means, Isaac Means, Sam Richmond, Abraham Means, Westley Richmond, Elijah Richmond, and Evangelene Richmond; great grandchild, Margaret “Daisy” Richmond with a second, John “Jay” Marcus Richmond Jr., due in November 2023; siblings Keith William Allhands and Katherine Lou (Allhands) Searcy; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 2:00pm – 6:00pm Sunday, September 24, 2023 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle, Indiana. Services will be held at 11:00am Monday at Mt.
