Martha (Lingerfelt) Hite

Martha (Lingerfelt) Hite, 93, of New Castle, formerly of Lewisville, passed away Friday, September 1, 2023 at The Waters of New Castle. She was born October 19, 1929 in War Creek, KY the daughter of the late Burnett and Elvira (Turner) Hollie.

Martha retired from Western Electric in 1980. She enjoyed gardening, camping, shopping and socializing. Martha loved spending time with her family. In her younger years Martha was a Cub Scout mom and member of the Red Hat Society. She attended Symrna Baptist Church in Spiceland until her health prevented her from going.

She is survived by her children, Sandy (Don) Shelton and Rick Lingerfelt; grandchildren, Josh Shelton, Derek (Adrienne) Lingerfelt and Cody Lingerfelt; great granddaughters, Kate, Emma and Mable; along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Stan Lingerfelt and second husband, James W. Hite; son Don Turner; grandson, Brian Shelton; sisters, Eva Marie, Maude, Kate, Ethel and Bertha.

Services will be at 2:00 pm on Wednesday September 6, 2023, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until the time of the service.
