Maxine Morton, 85, of New Castle passed away Friday, August 14, 2020 at Glen Oaks Heath Campus. She was born December 20, 1934 in Alexandria to the late Henry and Evaleen (Brunton) Knotts.
Maxine enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially eating out, vacationing in Florida and celebrating holidays. A 1952 graduate of Alexandria High School, she was a member of First Baptist Church in New Castle. Maxine and her husband, Wayne enjoyed riding motorcycles and founded Sand-D-Beach Campground (now known as Walnut Ridge).
She is survived by her two sons, Larry (Debbie) Morton of Pendleton and Jeff (Peggy) Morton of New Castle; six grandchildren, Heather Morton of Pendleton, Ryan Morton and Rob Minich of Indianapolis, Kyle (Jamie) Morton of Indianapolis, Kara (Kyler) Gray of Cincinnati, OH and Kelli (Brett) Johnson of Muncie; five great-grandchildren, Abram, Lucy and Daniel Gray, Theo Morton and Mason Johnson; a special friend, Richard Moore; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Morton in 2007 and a brother Duane Knotts.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 17, 2020 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Ken Durham officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 12 – 2 p.m. prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be sent to First Baptist Church, 709 S. Memorial Dr., New Castle, IN 47362.
