Nancy Jane Jones

November 16, 1936 — March 22, 2024

Nancy Jane Jones, 87 of Spiceland went peacefully to be with her Savior, surrounded by her loving family on Friday, March 22, 2024 at Stonebrooke Rehab Center in New Castle. She was born November 16, 1936 in Lincoln County, Kentucky to the late John Spencer and Emma Line (Thompson) Davidson.

Nancy moved to Spiceland at the age of 14 from Waynesburg, Kentucky and was a 1956 graduate of Spiceland High School. She was a very proud Spiceland Stinger Alumni and a member of SPATS. Nancy and her husband, Bruce owned and operated the Flamingo Motel and Restaurant in Dunreith for many years. She was an active member of the First Church of the Nazarene for over 50 years. Nancy served the church in many capacities including children’s ministry, was a member of the choir and assisted with funeral dinners.

She retired from Draper Shade in Spiceland after 15 years of service. Nancy cared for the elderly, cleaned houses and worked at various restaurants. A staunch Democrat, Nancy served on the precinct committee and was highly involved in party activities. She enjoyed yard work and gardening. An avid sports fan, she especially loved IU Basketball. Her biggest joy in life was her family.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Robin (Chris) Tinch and Duretta (Troy) Razor, both of New Castle; 6 granddaughters, Alyssia (Quentin) Wright, Christi Tinch, Nicole Tinch (Robert Brown), Jasmine (Andelynne) Razor, Alexis (Jon) Razor and Kyra Razor; great grandchildren, Ericka (Dillon), Marissa, Taylor, Adri, Emerson, Ramiya, Jada, Kamry, Zayden, Jayla and Cora Jane; great-great grandchildren, Lainie, Theodore, Atticus and Gwenivere; brother, Bill (Barbara) Davidson of Lexington, KY and several nieces and nephews who affectionately referred to her as “Fancy Nancy”.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Jones; great grandson, Dallas Ray; 2 brothers, Hobert (Ruth) Mitchell and Lonnie Mitchell and a sister, Rosemary Conyers.

The family would like to express their thanks to the staff, both past and present, of Stonebrooke as well as Gentiva Hospice for the love and compassion shown for our loved one.
