Patricia Jean Perkins, 83, of New Castle passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at The Waters of New Castle. She was born on March 6, 1940 to the late Ralph and Oleda (Clark) Brown.
She was a graduate of Cadiz High School and lived in Sulphur Springs for many years. Pat was a well-known artist, having won many awards and running the art exhibit at the Mooreland Free Fair for 49 years. She was a girl’s scout leader and taught art lessons from her home. Pat previously worked at Murphy Mart as well as Heritage House of New Castle as activities director. She was a member of the art guild and formerly attended First Baptist Church. Pat enjoyed painting, photography, traveling, arts and crafts.
Those left to cherish her memories include four daughters, Carla Gardener of Spiceland, Jennifer Perkins of New Castle, Shawna Thompson of Muncie and Lonna (Bruce) Bean of New Palestine; step-son, Tony (Meleah) Perkins of New Castle; six grandchildren, several great grandchildren; sister, Barbara (Tom) Perry of Somerset, Kentucky; brother, Gary Brown of New Castle; several nieces and nephews and her former husband of 32 years, Doug (Sherry) Perkins of Clearwater, Florida.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Donald Brown and Ralph “Skip” Brown; two uncles, Lowell and Lonzo Clark and an aunt, Addie Clark Brown.
Services will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, January 26, 2024 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Services. Burial will be at South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition at a later date.
