Randall “Randy” Douglas Davis, 50, of New Castle, passed away Friday, February 2, 2024 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born July 3, 1973 in Muncie, Indiana to Roy James and Cheryl (Tabor) Davis.
Randy, a 1991 graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School found his love of music early on, as a percussionist in the high school band. After graduating, he attended Ivy Tech and earned an Associates Degree in Computer Drafting. Randy was always a perfectionist in all aspects, applying that skill to the family business, Davis Excavating, from 1994–2000. He also worked for Walmart when the new location opened in New Castle, and he currently worked for the United States Postal Service for 23 years.
Randy was the very best husband, dad, papaw, son and brother and found true joy in helping others. He loved his Ford trucks and working on them with his son, James. He also enjoyed working on his podcast, “Rural America, with Shawn and Randy,” gardening, and spending time with his grandson, Camdyn.
Randy is survived by his high school sweetheart of nearly 36 years, Jennifer Jo Davis; children, James (Kaylea) Davis and Anna Davis; grandson, Camdyn; mother, Cheryl (Tabor) Davis; siblings, Gary (Amy) Davis, Sherry (Patrick) Clapp, Brandon (Tanya) Davis; brother-in-law, Jason (Kim) Davis. He also leaves behind many close friends, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and his dog, Carl.
In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his grandparents, Lawrence and Maxine Davis and Andrew and Lucille Tabor; special uncle, Greg Davis and father and mother-in-law, Danny and Linda Davis.
Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Jason Silvers officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Visitation will be from 4-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6th at the funeral home.
