Samie McBride, 80, of New Castle, Indiana passed away on Friday, January 12, 2024 surrounded by her children. She was born on November 10, 1943 in Williams, IN to the late Forest Roberts and Dorothy (Reuter) Higham.
Samie was a lifelong resident of Henry County, graduating from New Castle High School in 1961. There she was a member of the National Honor Society and a varsity cheerleader. After graduating, she attended beauty school in Muncie.
She was a farm wife for 20 years near Straughn. While her children were young, she was active in supporting their athletic, academic and 4-H activities. She was a longtime member of the See-Do-Gro Home Ec Club near New Lisbon.
She moved back to New Castle in 1991 after her children were grown. She served as a member and an officer of the Indiana Massage Therapy Association for several years. She regularly attended Grand Avenue Baptist Church and later St. James Episcopal Church. She volunteered for veterans events and at the Henry County Memorial Hospital. Above all, what she loved most was spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Elks 484, Moose 147, and Eagles 933 until her health began to fail.
She is survived by son Michael (Cheryl) McBride of Indianapolis and daughter Robin (Mark) Scott of Rogersville; grandsons Ross and Jack McBride of Indianapolis and granddaughter Emeline Scott of Muncie; and sister Betty Lotich of Richmond; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Lowell Roberts. Doris Wilking, Elaine Farley and special friend Melvin Dick.

A memorial service for Samie will be held in April. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the Mental Health Association of Indiana, Attn: Donations, 1431 N. Delaware St, Indianapolis, IN 46202.
