Stephen "Steve" M. Houser, 70 of New Castle went to be with His Lord and Savior on Friday, September 27, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born March 21, 1943 in Henry County a son of the late Eugene and Wilma (Vores) Houser.
Steve retired from Dana Corporation in New Castle and from the Indiana Department of Transportation. He was a long-time member of Temple Baptist Church in New Castle where his church family meant so much to him. He was a loving husband, daddy, grandpa, brother, uncle, brother-in law and friend. He was a "favorite" to many people, loved his neighbors and enjoyed talking with them. Steve, more affectionately known as "Pa", loved his grandchildren very much and always looked for ways to spoil them. He leaves behind a legacy of love for family, church and friends.
Left to cherish his loving memory include his wife: Patricia Huffman Houser whom he married March 29, 1964; two children: Amy (husband, Dave) Reed and Alycia (husband, Jack) Turner, both of New Castle; four grandchildren: Jordyn Reed, Olivia Turner, Madisyn Reed and Trey Turner; one brother: Larry (wife, Millie) Houser of New Castle; two sisters: Kay (husband, Gleason) Nicholas and Elaine (husband, Royce) Mathews both of New Castle; brother-in-law: Junior Blevins of Spiceland; his mother-in-law: Mary Huffman of New Castle; several sisters-in-law; many nieces & nephews; two nephews/buddies that meant the world to him: Curtis Burke and Derrick Alexander; and many friends & neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Eugene and Wilma Houser; a brother: James Houser, a sister: Delores Blevins; father-in-law: Curtis Huffman; two brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law.
Services will be at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Bob Schon officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 5-8 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.
