Stephen L. “Steve” Strother, 71, of New Castle passed away Friday, June 9, 2023 at his home. He was born April 2, 1952 in New Castle to the late Paul E. Strother and Alice Marie (Collins) Stinson.
Steve was the vice president of Ameriana Bank, formerly known as Henry County Savings and Loan, where he worked at branches in New Castle, Anderson, Westfield and Middletown. He also worked as a home inspector in Central Indiana. Steve was a member of the New Castle Eagles and Elks Lodges, Sons of the American Legion and the NRA. He enjoyed boating at the Ohio River, golfing, reading and cooking. Steve was a lifelong learner and served as the 1970 class president at New Castle Chrysler High School. He then attended Indiana University in Bloomington.
Survivors include his sisters, Nancy Dickey of Pendleton and Kristi Strother of Middletown; brother, Terry (Regina) Stinson of Anderson; nephews, Tim (Melanie) Dickey of Arizona, Tom (Peggy) Dickey of Pendleton, Tony (Becki) Dickey of Wilkinson, Brad (fiancé Simone Boudreaux) Strother of Louisiana and Joshua (fiancé Katie) Stinson of Pennsylvania; a niece, April (David) Durke of Louisiana; several great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by a brother, John Carl Strother.
The family would like to invite Steve’s friends to a celebration of life to say goodbye at 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 9, 2023 at the Eagles Lodge in New Castle.
