Susan K. Davis, 55, of Carthage, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Hancock Regional Hospital. She was born December 6, 1956 in Greencastle a daughter of Richard L. Newkirk and Rose E. (Huller) Newkirk Tanksley.
A 1975 graduate of Knightstown High School, she had been employed at Brandywine Nursing Home in Greenfield for several years. She attended the Greensboro Church of the Nazarene. She was an avid fan of Elvis Presley. She enjoyed reading, working puzzles and playing Solitaire.
Susan is survived by a daughter: Cindy Newkirk of Mantoon, IL; two sons: Robert Davis of Shelbyville and Jason Davis of Greenfield; mother: Rose E. Tanksley of Carthage; father and stepmother: Richard Lee (Barbara) Newkirk of Bloomington, IN; grandchildren: L. J. and Autumn; sisters: Marsha (Martin) Sneed of Greensboro, Patricia Hyatt of Carthage; Brothers: Harry (Karen) Tanksley of Bentonville, IN; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Ernest Davis in 2003; a niece: Jessica Tanksley in 2001; great nephew: Nathaniel Sisiliano.
Services will be at 2:00 PM Monday, March 19, 2012 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Rev. George Maloyed, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery. Friends may call from 12:00 – 2:00 PM Monday prior to service.
