Wayne F. Galloway, 96, of New Castle was called home to the Lord, Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at I.U. Health Ball Memorial in Muncie.
Before coming to New Castle he was a native of Kokomo, where he worked in retailing, as well as production work in Kokomo, Peoria, Illinois and Tallahassee, Florida. He had been an Indiana Real Estate broker – salesman for 33 years. Wayne had been an advertising account representative and manager with The Courier-Times for 40 years.
He was a member of the Mt. Summit Christian Church, American Legion, Elks Lodge, Henry County Board of Realtors and State Association of Realtors. He served as bond chairman and seal chairman for the former Henry County Tuberculosis Association and the 11th Airborne Division Association.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific. His awards include the Bronze Star, The Presidential Unit Citation and Philippine Liberation Ribbon. His most prized award was his Paratrooper Wings. He was one of the first troops to occupy Japan in August of 1945.
His hobbies included dancing, reading, playing cards and traveling, having been in all 48 continental states and 9 other countries.
He is survived by his wife, Judith K. Galloway; three children, Mark Galloway of Anderson, Tracy Dellinger and Gregory Galloway, both of New Castle; 10 grandchildren, Cory, Dylan, & Bailey Galloway, Amber Dellinger, Christy Decker, Nathan Dellinger, Jackie, Alex, Alfred & Jessica Galloway; 6 great grandchildren; sister, Sue (Bernard) Martin of Kokomo; and several nieces & nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Hazel Galloway; and a great-grandson, Cole Booher.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 24, 2020 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Ben French officiating. Burial will follow at Hillsboro Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Summit Christian Church.
