William F. Denney, age 91, of New Castle, passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Stonebrooke Rehabilitation Center. He was born April 6, 1923 in Pennville, Indiana to the late Charles Ebenezer and Orilla May (Bowen) Denney.
Bill retired from Roberts Pipeline in 1988 where he had worked as an operator. As a builder, he helped construct many businesses in the New Castle area. He attended Park Place Free Methodist Church in New Castle and was a member of the Mid-Central Engineers Union. Bill loved gardening, woodworking, caning, quoting poetry and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years: Hilda G. (Vincent) Denney of New Castle; two children: Donald (Cindy) Denney of Portland and Vicki Denney of Dayton, OH; 5 step-children: Cindy Rayle of Westfield, Ron (Julie) Hunter of Fishers, Toni (Fred) Ballenger of Corpus Christi, TX, Brenda (Joe) Chappel of Knightstown and Shorty (Linda) Porter of Farwell, TX; 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; a sister: Cora Bourne of Penville; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, 4 brothers and 4 sisters.
Services will be at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastors Steve Hickman and Danny Porter officiating.
