William Daniel Sanders, 84, lifelong resident of Henry County, died September 27, 2013 in New Castle after a lengthy illness. He was born to Marcel and Harriet Richey Sanders, August 26, 1929 in New Castle.
He graduated from New Castle High School in 1947. He served in the United States Army from 1947 to 1949 and was stationed in Germany. He married Roberta Cole on October 1, 1949 in Lewisville, Indiana. Bill retired from Delco Remy where he worked in production and supervision at the Anderson facilities. He was an avid fisherman and gifted woodworker. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of New Castle, New Castle Masonic Lodge #91, and the Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite.
He is survived by his daughters; Rebecca (husband, Daniel) Riley of Greenfield and Dee Ann Koehler (friend, Kent Keesling) of Indianapolis; grandchildren; William Calvin (wife, Sarah) Riley of State College, Pennsylvania and Jessica Koehler of Greenwood; brothers: Monte (wife, Jill) of New Castle and Floyd of Hagerstown; one great grandchild; Arthur Cole Riley of State College, Pennsylvania and several nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Roberta; his parents; sisters: Marjorie Kidd and Barbara Fisher; brothers: James, Marcel (Bud) Jr and son-in-law: Michael Koehler.
Services will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Art Whitaker officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Masonic services will be 7:30 P.M. Monday.
