Agnes "Dean" Bennett
February 16, 1935 — February 21, 2023
Agnes “Dean” Bennett, 88, of New Castle passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at Stonebrooke. She was born February 16, 1935 in Albany, KY to the late Herb and Estalean (Hickman) Ballenger.
She worked at Modernfold for 30 years before retiring in 1997 where she was a member of their bowling and softball leagues. Agnes was a member of the Evening Optimist and a trustee for the UAW and was a Cub scout den leader for 8 years. Treasurer of Henry County PTA in the 1950’s. Received the Unknown Cub Scout Stature award. Member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha, a member of the Sound the Alarm Church. Agnes loved her family more than anything. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing, attending Little League games and selling Avon. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children, Timm (Brenda) Cooney, Teresa (Mike) Major, Karen (Bill) Schwab and Tamara (Joe) Higgins; several grandchildren and several step-grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; several step great-grandchildren and two nieces.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a son, Kevin Cooney and a brother, Gene Ballenger.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 2, 2023 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Mike Major officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 noon - 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. You may express condolences or share a memory of Agnes at www.hinsey-brown.com .
